Exercise 1: Weather adjectives and nounsWe can use the following nouns to talk about the weather: clouds, rain, snow, sun, wind. To describe the weather with adjectives, add -y to the nouns (rainy, snowy).
We use different adjectives for temperature. In order from hot to cold, these are: boiling, hot, warm, cool, cold, freezing.Read the paragraph about Vancouver’s weather and complete the sentences with the correct noun or adjective.
hot / sunny / snow / winds / rain / freezing / cold / cool / windyVancouver is a very popular city for Canadian tourists, because unlike other parts of Canada, there isn’t much {{{snow}}} in winter. In the winter months, it’s {{{cool}}}, and sometimes very {{{cold}}}, but never {{{freezing}}}. The winters are very wet, so there is a lot of {{{rain}}}. In summer, it is dry and {{{sunny}}}, and it can be very {{{hot}}}. However, Vancouver is on the coast, so it can be very {{{windy}}}. That’s because there are strong {{{winds}}} that come off the Pacific Ocean.
Exercise 2: ItWe can use it to replace singular nouns (I like chocolate. It is sweet.).
We can also it to talk about the time, the weather, the date, etc. (It’s July 16th.).
We can’t use it when there is another subject in the sentence (My cat is friendly NOT My cat it is friendly).
