From Taiwan to Vancouver: Po-Chen’s IELTS Journey at VGC
Meet Po-Chen Kuo from Taiwan, a student in VGC International College’s IELTS Preparation Program in Vancouver. His goal is to study abroad, and joining VGC has helped him build the skills, confidence, and friendships he needs for that next step.
My name is Po-Chen Kuo, and I’m from Taiwan. I joined the IELTS program at VGC because I want to study abroad, and I knew this program would help me prepare for that.
I really appreciate the support I’ve received here. My teacher, Safreena, has been so patient and encouraging, she always gives clear feedback and pushes me to improve. The staff have also been very supportive, and Gemma, who organizes the school activities, makes them so fun and welcoming. She’s like our mama at school.
The course has definitely improved my English. My speaking is more natural, my writing is more organized, and I feel much more confident overall. I’ve also made friends from different countries, and it’s been great to connect with them both inside and outside the classroom.
I chose Vancouver because it’s a safe, multicultural city with amazing nature. One of my best memories was joining a school activity led by Gemma, where we explored the city and practiced English together, it was such a great experience.
I would absolutely recommend VGC to anyone who wants to study English in Vancouver. The teachers, staff, and classmates make it a place where you can really grow, both academically and personally.
