Extra Student Services
Introduction
At VGC International College, we are proud of our quality of education. We believe that every student deserves to get all the necessary tools and support to improve their English skills and succeed in their English language studies as well as their communication skills for business. That’s why we have created four extra services, to make sure that our students reach the highest level of education and have a personalized experience while studying English and Business in Canada. These additional student services are available for all VGC students and alumni, included in tuition with no extra fee.
Study Lab
At VGC International College, we understand that you may sometimes need a little extra help, a place to study, or simply some additional practice to learn English faster. With this in mind, we offer our Study Lab, a welcoming place where you can meet with a highly qualified VGC teacher to:
- get help with your homework and study for exams, clarify language related doubts.
- obtain extra material for study or practice.
- get individual attention and tips to improve English in your weaker areas.
- learn English with other students in a smaller, more intimate setting.
- Another great advantage of the Study Lab is the fact you can simply drop in any day you want, Monday to Thursday after class between 3:40 – 4:40 pm. Studying alone is not as much fun or as effective, so come join us!
Writing Center
Writing is a difficult skill to master and writing in a second language can be intimidating. With that in mind VGC has opened a Writing Center with the aim of offering help and support to students who are at level 5 and higher. The Writing center will be hosted by one of our many highly trained instructors four days a week from Monday-Thursday after class between 3:40 – 4:40 pm.
- get help forming a compelling introduction.
- get help with structure for supporting paragraphs.
- get help with Thesis Statement creation and placement.
- learn how to form a solid conclusion to your essay.
Workshops
Our Friday afternoon English workshops go beyond traditional language study. These interactive training sessions are designed to help students by providing practical information and feedback on daunting issues such as employment or immigration to Canada*. Join us in a casual setting and get helpful tips for your professional life. The topics include: résumé and cover letter writing tips, how to succeed in a job interview, Canadian culture or how to apply for a Canadian visa*.
Our English workshops take place every Friday afternoon.
*All workshops about visa application and immigration to Canada are conducted by a certified immigration consultant.
Continuing Studies
One of the biggest challenges of studying English abroad comes when you go back home. When you are living in Canada and are speaking English every day you feel your skills improving every moment, but when you go back home you may find yourself losing some of the English skills you worked so hard to acquire. That’s why we offer Continuing Studies, an online platform designed for our alumni to maintain the English level they earned. We provide lessons ranging from Grammar, Vocabulary, Reading, Writing, Listening and Pronunciation to keep the English level that you graduated from at VGC. This is just one of the ways in which you will always remain part of the VGC family.
