September 2016 – VGC’s Ultimate Canadian Camping Experience and Our Highlights of This Month
by MATT NAPIER
We are nearing the end of Summer here in Vancouver, but that’s not stopping us from finishing the season off with a bang! It was hard to choose the best activities of the upcoming month, but after a lot of thinking, here are my top three:
This will be the last BBQ of the season, so come to Second Beach in Stanley Park to spend the afternoon eating food, playing volleyball, listening to music, and just hanging out with all your VGC friends. I don’t believe there’s any better way to kick off the Labour Day long weekend!
If you chose to come to Vancouver, chances are that you love the outdoors. So don’t miss this day trip to one of the most beautiful Provincial parks of British Columbia! After a drive that will take you beyond Whistler, an intermediate level hike will lead you to stunning vistas over bright green glacial lakes, forests, and the mountains that we get to call home.
If you are looking for the ultimate Canadian experience, this trip to the Sunshine Coast is most definitely it. Imagine packing your sea kayak with all you need for the weekend before embarking on a 12km trip up Sechelt inlet, surrounded by water and mountains. Then set up camp on your own remote beach and get ready to spend a full weekend around a campfire enjoying music, friends, food, and fun under the stars!
If you’ve been counting, I’m afraid you are right: I cheated. This is number FOUR! But there are just too many great things happening this month. How could I not include skydiving? The experience of jumping out of an airplane at 12,000 feet and flying 200km/hr through the air is one you keep for a lifetime! Watch our VGC skydiving video here.
