Beyond the Classroom: Pedro’s Business Diploma Experience at VGC
- Name: Pedro Pinho
- Home Country: Brazil
- VGC Courses: Diploma in Business Communications
Pedro, an Electrical Engineering student from Brazil, spent six months at VGC to develop the communication and leadership skills essential for a global career. Through the Diploma in Business Communications, he gained hands-on experience in presentations, leadership, and Canadian business practices—and took it even further by applying those skills in real life. Starting as a volunteer and later becoming a part-time Program Assistant, Pedro transformed his learning into practical experience. In this testimonial, he shares how VGC helped him bridge the gap between technical knowledge and real-world communication.
My name is Pedro, I’m 20 years old, and I’m currently a University student from Brazil studying Electrical Engineering. I’ve spent the last six months at VGC International College, and it has been a total game-changer for my future.
In the engineering world, technical knowledge is only half the battle; the other half is communication. I chose the Business Communications program at VGC because I knew that to be a global professional, I needed to master leadership and presentation skills. Learning from teachers like Amanda Felipe gave me a deep understanding of Applied Leadership and Canadian business practices that I simply couldn’t get in a traditional lab.
But I wanted more than just a classroom experience. I understood that to truly master these skills, I needed to apply them. I started helping VGC as a volunteer, using it as a way to practice the theories I learned in class. I wanted my time in Canada to be as complete as possible. Because of that initiative, VGC officially hired me as a part-time Program Assistant (PA). Working as a PA allowed me to develop my soft skills through market research, data management, and organizing student activities. I went from studying business cases to living them!
What made this journey so special is how receptive the culture is here. Vancouver and VGC are incredibly friendly to people from all over the world. As a Brazilian student, I felt welcomed from day one. Whether it was the adrenaline of my first hockey game or networking with classmates from different continents, I always felt at home.
I highly recommend VGC to any student who wants to grow. You’ll leave with more than just a certificate—you’ll leave with real-world work experience and a global family.
