Nagisa, a high school student from Japan, spent five months at VGC to strengthen her English and prepare for future academic opportunities. What stood out most during her time at the school was VGC’s structured approach to language learning—especially the English Only Policy and Purple Card system, which encouraged students to actively use English every day. In this testimonial, Nagisa shares how this immersive environment helped her build confidence, improve her communication skills, and expand her options for studying abroad.
Hello!
I’m Nagisa from Japan.
I was staying in VGC for five months.
The reason why I decided to study in VGC were the system of purple cards as well as the policy.
First of all purple cards are given for students who join the class actively and speak English in public places In VGC.
Also in VGC we have EOP (English only policy) and I think a lot of schools also have but VGC is more strict than others .
When teachers see the situation that students speak their own languages in the places where they should speak English they will give red cards for them.
Because of that I could improve my English skill.
I think the things that I’ve learned in VGC were really helpful in my career because I’m still in high school and I must decide university in near future but I’m confident with English now so I have more choices in choosing universities.
While I was staying in Vancouver and in VGC I got some problems but when I got that I always ask help to the managers and every time they worked really hard to solve it so I think they are really supportive.
I can totally recommend VGC due to the policy and supportive staffs!
