Itza, a 19-year-old student from Mexico, came to VGC with two goals: improve her English and prepare for the IELTS exam for a future scholarship application. Over two months, she strengthened her grammar, expanded her vocabulary, gained confidence in speaking, and discovered the value of learning in a multicultural environment. In this testimonial, Itza shares how VGC helped her prepare for IELTS while creating memories that will last a lifetime.
Helloo!! My name is Itza, I’m 19 years old and I’m from Mexico City.
I decided to came to VGC to improve my English level in an environment that push me to keep practicing it constantly, while I get to know people for all over around the world. As well as to practice for presenting a certification test to apply to a scholarship.
I arrived to VGC being a level 7 student, which allowed me to communicate with ease since the beginning. However I still had to enhance some skills, such as grammar, writing and reading. During the two months I spent here I was able to reinforce my past grammar knowledges, learn new vocabulary, and most of all gain the confidence needed to be more fluent in my daily life.
I spent my last three weeks in the IELTS course, which allowed me to acquire the necessary knowledge about strategies, different ways on practicing each skill required, and I even get to present one practice test!! The results were better that expected so I became more confident on my level.
I’m really grateful with the staff, that was always willing to help at any inconvenience. It is easy to tell that they really care for the well being of the students.
Being in VGC was an enriching experience, intellectually, because I get to know how is the daily life in other country where your mother tongue is not theirs. And culturally because I now I have friends from all around the world.
It was an amazing adventure, with a lot of lessons learned. One of the most unforgettable moments I had here was the Rocky Mountains trip organized by VGC, the views were incredible and the landscapes looked like something from a movie. Besides the cozy feeling of being surrounded by nature, this trip gave me incredible memories with my friends.
At the end of the day this was the best international experience I could ever asked for, and even though there were unpleasant moments I wouldn’t change it for anything. Now I have experiences that I would never forget, memories with my friends that I would always remember and cherish for the rest of my life. Because this time here was not just a random trip it was an special time that would always hold a special place in my heart
